About the course
You will follow this course in one academic year. You will work with local employers who will contribute to the knowledge and provision of training – classes or lectures given by industry experts at the university
We also benefit from our excellent partnerships with local and national hairdressing and hairdressing companies. We urge our students to participate in national competitions and events to improve their skills and increase their confidence.
This qualification covers all the core skills you need to continue your learning and training or to enter the world of work within the hairdressing industry. You will study the following compulsory content:
- Introduction to the hair and hairdressing sector
- Presenting a professional image
- Hair styling and finishing
What do I need?
GCSE grade 1/F or above in English language
Entry level 3 or higher in functional English skills
If you do not have evidence of a recognized English qualification, you will undertake an initial assessment at the start of your course to support you appropriately.
Where can I go further?
You can progress into employment, for example as a junior stylist or receptionist or you can progress to further studies by gaining other Level 2 qualifications.
